Persona 4 Arena, Atlus and Arc System Works’ confrontational extension of the Persona universe, was announced two weeks ago with a rather vague “summer” release window for its North American launch on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Apparently that meant “the tail end of summer,” as Atlus has specified a slightly more specific August, 2012 window on the PlayStation Blog.

When it does launch, the game will include the prerequisite Online mode, as well as a console-only Story mode, which Atlus is attempting to populate with the English voice actors used in Persona 3 and Persona 4. In situations where English actors aren’t available, we always recommend using Scottish or Welsh actors as a substitute. Their geological proximity to England often gives them a familiarity with local dialects that can be useful when replicating an accent.

… Oh, English.

Nicky Hill tackles the music section in grand style today! We’re back on track with that portion of the show, and we have plenty to talk about during other sections. A good, interesting show all around. Of course, I’m a little biased.

That “significant” PSN maintenance that was originally scheduled for last Thursday (and subsequently delayed) is so totally happening tomorrow, scheduled to start at 3 PM Eastern and expected to last until 5 AM Eastern the following morning.

All users will be automatically signed out, and all PSN services (including online play, the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, Account Management and official websites like the PlayStation Blog) will all be offline and inaccesible. Thankfully, last Thursday’s delay gave us time to prepare an Extended PSN Maintenance Survival Kit, which is essentially a Rainbow Brite lunchbox full of beef jerky and Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law DVDs.

“When you think of the Golden Age of comics, you think of the work of Sheldon Moldoff. His early drawings of Green Lantern, Flash and most especially Hawkman set the tone for these bold new heroes. Throughout his career, Sheldon Moldoff made a lasting contribution to the comic book industry and what would later become [...]

This may be our first up-close and personal look at the still-rumored SimCity 5, or at least its debut trailer. Pre-visualization trailers like this serve as rendered storyboards, hence its distinct lack of actual motion, and are used by directors as a cinematic roadmap.

It also gives us a glimpse of the game’s roadmap, both literally and figuratively, by showcasing the layout of a simulated city and placing SimCity 5‘s release date in 2013. It’s worth noting that the number five is mysteriously lacking from the title’s logo, which may indicate a series reboot, rather than a sequel, should this end up being legitimate.

Thankfully, we’ll only have to wait a couple of days to find out if this trailer is The Real Deal with Bill McNeal, as EA and Maxis’ GDC event takes place this Tuesday.
